Sicily has been one of the most conquered islands in history due to its strategic location. During World War II, the Allied Forces invade through Sicily for the Italian surrender. It was not until after World War II that Sicily became part of Italy. Sicilian history goes back thousands of years when it was invaded by the Greeks and many others. The Sicilian dialect language consists of Arabic, Italian and Greek words, as do the people. Sicily is a very beautiful place and as often as the Italians and Sicilians mock each other, the Italians vacation in Sicily during the Summer months.
